An evening with Wim Crouwel

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Last night DF were lucky enough to pop down to London’s Southbank to hear from the great man himself, Wim Crouwel, speaking about his life, work and process. The talk, part of an on going exhibition at London’s Design Museum, was throughly interesting and very entertaining from a design/typographic master we have loved and admired for many, many years. Hopefully a video of the talk should be appearing online at the Premsela website sometime soon.

Finally if you haven’t popped down to see the Wim Crouwel exhibition, you’ve still got time as it’s on until the 3rd July. So Do it, Do it!

Project Thirty Three

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Check out this collection of vintage record jackets that convey their message with only simple shapes and typography. Project Thirty-Three is the Seattle based Jive Time Records store owner’s personal collection and shrine to circles and dots, squares and rectangles, and triangles, and the brilliant designers that made them come to life on album covers.

SOS: Save Our Supplies

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

We came across this simple and beautiful crafted video by the guys at In Secret Agreement for doc2doc.org, a non-profit organization that saves usable medical supplies from being discarded in the U.S. and sends them to hospitals in the developing world. Take a couple of minutes out of your day and help the SOS message go further.

Surry Hills Library Signage

Friday, December 3rd, 2010

Beautiful signage for Sydney’s Surry Hills Library and Community Centre by Collider. Each module not only holds the description of the destination but also tilts towards that destination. The proximity of the destination determines the angle of the tilt. Check it out here.
