Gate crashing the party

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013

A vast amount of money is spent globally on advertising each year, probably too much compared to some of the worlds more pressing matters. It also could be argued that the majority of ads go in one ear and out the other without making you stop and think! Over the past year or so those hard working eco-warriors over at Greenpeace have been making very good use of my, and countless others, monthly donations with some very clever thinking on a budget.

I really hope these stunts, and their message, gets the recognition that they deserve by the masses, but also by the industry it’s hijacking. In my humble opinion the above & below are far more worthy of a few D&AD’s & Cannes Lions!

Keep up the great and important work Greenpeace.

Enjoy!

Great Scott, a great auction for a very great cause

Friday, September 9th, 2011

Today’s the day Nike will be auctioning off 1500 pairs of the much sort after Nike Air Mag. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the great work that the Michael J Fox Foundation is doing to combat Parkinson’s disease. Currently standing at around $4000.00 a pair I think even if I sold my own mother, as amazing as she is, I’d still way way short of the eventual mark! So for those who just want to see a pair head down to Nike Town at Oxford Street as I have it on good authority that they have a pair to ogle at. Below is an amazing message from the man himself.

It’s a bitter sweet day for me as I want a pair of these so much it’s hurts but sadly they’re a little out of my price bracket. However having seen on a daily basis how destructive Parkinson’s Disease can be with my own Granddad Tommy, who suffered and fought for well over a decade, I do think it’s a really fantastic and commendable partnership.

If I had the money I’d happily pay ten times the final amount, what ever it may be, not because I want the Nike Air Mag’s but because I wouldn’t wish what my Granddad went through on anyone. So massive respect goes out to the guys at Nike and even bigger respect has to go to the main man, Michael J Fox, for bringing us so much joy and for leading the fight against a horrible disease under very difficult circumstances.

Granddad Tommy would be very proud.

Duck and Cover – A/W11 Campaign

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Design Friendship’s third and final installment for Duck and Cover ATL campaign follows on from the S/S11’s “Rendezvous” story line. DF designed, Art Directed and produced the new Autumn Winter 11 campaign, “The Chase”, which is set and shot in a disused RAF base in Suffolk, a remanence of the cold war years.

The brief was to continue, develop and intensify the ‘Ready For Anything’ brand narrative DF created with DAC to engage and excite the 24+ male consumer.

As well as featuring in traditional press advertising and digital outdoor media, the campaign has been fully integrated to work both online and off-line.

Massive thanks has to be given to David Clerihew and the rest of the crew for all their hard work over an intense two day shoot, and an additional shout going to Jude Greenaway for audio and editing wizardry. We couldn’t have done it without you guys.

Enjoy!

A lovely piece for American Apparel that doesn’t show half naked skinny hipster types.

Duck and Cover – AW11

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

We’ve been busy shooting for Duck and Cover again. This time we swapped dodgy and derelict Elephant and Castle for a disused RAF base! One again massive thanks to David Clerihew and his team and model James of course, who did a brilliant job. Image selection and the video editing is underway, as soon as we can share the images with you we will post them here, so watch this space.

SOS: Save Our Supplies

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

We came across this simple and beautiful crafted video by the guys at In Secret Agreement for doc2doc.org, a non-profit organization that saves usable medical supplies from being discarded in the U.S. and sends them to hospitals in the developing world. Take a couple of minutes out of your day and help the SOS message go further.

If only all ads could be this beautiful

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

If you only do one thing today then we highly recommend that you spend 3 minutes watching this advert, yes an advert. Simply beautiful.

Duck and Cover – SS11

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Another season and another Duck and Cover shoot under our belt. This time we swapped
East London for the glamorous, dodgy and derelict Elephant and Castle, NICE! Thanks again
to David Clerihew, Chris, Alex, Will, Dan, Nancy, Rob, Richard, Ellie and James for all your
hard work! We’re selecting and retouching the images as we speak and as soon as we can
share the images with you we will post them here, so watch this space.

Duck and Cover – AW10 Campaign

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

We have been itching to share the latest ATL shoot & video that we have created for Duck
and Cover’s AW10 Campaign, and finally we can, woop woop!

DF were asked by Duck and Cover to create a 2 year narrative to engage and excite the 24+ male consumer. We launched this season with the first installment set around the theme, ‘The Escape’ communicating the DAC ‘Ready For Anything’ attitude.

This season, as well as the traditional press advertising, we created an integrated campaign to work on/off-line. Each campaign shot was supported by a viral clip which, when edited together, form the AW10 campaign film. We hope you like!
